A Groom's Guide To Helping His Bride PDF Print E-mail

Wedding planning is a lot of work, and figuring out rentals, ceremony locations and menu choices can be stressful. Many brides take on much of the planning, and can get overwhelmed as the wedding gets closer and last minute details need to be taken care of. As a groom, how can you help your bride relax, be prepared and excited for her wedding day?

The most important thing to do is to listen, and be supportive of your fiancee. Even if you don't care whether the centerpiece flowers are white or off-white, or you think that a late guest reply is no big deal, offer your ear to her whenever she needs it. At some point, she'll need to vent about some aspect of the wedding planning, whether it's difficult family members or reception entree choices. By talking with her about her concerns and providing support you'll alleviate some of the anxiety she is feeling.

Take whatever tasks off of her hands that you can. Make a list of things that need to be done before the wedding, and tackle some of the planning. This is your wedding too, and by taking on the responsibility of booking all the honeymoon arrangements, or researching DJ companies, it shows you have a vested interest in the planning and in her. You should definitely handle all of the arrangements of your groomsmen and best man. Coordinate tuxedo rentals and returns, buy groomsmen gifts and look into wedding day transportation for your wedding party.

If there is a lot to be done in a short time, consider hiring a wedding consultant to handle some of the jobs that need to be done. You can even hire a wedding day planner who will arrive the morning of your wedding and make sure that everything is on time and ready for your ceremony and reception.

Anything you can do to help your bride relax is great! Rent a cozy cabin for a weekend, or whisk her off for a little getaway that will leave her rejuvenated. If you don't have time or the budget to leave your hometown, rent a luxury suite at a local hotel, or look into a few days at a bed and breakfast. Spa packages are also a wonderful idea, as your bride will have a chance to put her feet up and let someone pamper her. A basket of soothing bath salts, foot creams and massage oil will be a refreshing treat for an over-stressed bride.

Remember that your bride has a great deal to handle during the wedding planning. If the idea of shopping for wedding cakes or researching florists makes you cringe, don't let your bride know it. Once the wedding planning is over, you and your bride can relax and unwind during your honeymoon. Your day will go much more smoothly if your bride is calm and prepared for the celebration. Support her, lend a hand, and you'll have a bride come your wedding day!
