Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life - and it will be. But it's also going to be stressful, no matter what you do. There are, however, some tried and true things that other brides have done to help minimize stress so they can enjoy their special day even more.
Learning to de-stress is one of the most important things you'll learn as you're preparing for your wedding. Not only will it help your blood pressure to go down, but it will help make your wedding day more relaxed and enjoyable for both you and those around you. Here are some excellent things you can do to tone down the stress factors and chill out. 1. Delegate time consuming but not crucial activities to your wedding party. That's what your bridesmaids and groomsmen are there for - it's their job to help make your wedding day as smooth and hassle free as possible. Have them take care of little things, like napkins at the reception or programs for the ceremony. As long as they're not overwhelmed, they should be happy to take on a few little wedding duties to help lighten your load. Feel free to check in on them from time to time to find out how things are going. 2. Go for a massage or pampering facial more than once before the big day. Sure, you might not think massages are a verifiable wedding expense but if you allot even just a hundred dollars or more to your "relaxation fund," you'll find that you're more apt to handle anything that comes your way. Massages and spa treatments are proven to help people relax and relase negative thoughts and feelings that might be overwhelming them. Many brides get a massage the day before their wedding or as preperation that day - consider going at several intervals during the planning stages as well for maximum stress relief. Not only will you feel better, but you'll be less of a bridezilla to those around you! 3. Take some time to yourself, away from the groom if you need to. Don't think that just because you and your sweetie are planning a wedding, that you have to be around each other and romantic 24/7. If you want to take a breather and just get some chill time on your own, do it - and don't feel guilty about it. Go for lunch and a mini shopping spree solo, or with one of your girlfriends. Perhaps you want to get away from "wedding" stuff for a day - that's fine too. Do whatever you need to do to keep your head on straight and in the game. There are tons of ways to de-stress before your wedding, and it's different for every bride. The best way to help yourself is to keep yourself in check. Give yourself whatever you need - whether it's a massage or a day with the girls. You don't have to be a "super bride" to have your beautiful dream wedding. Sometimes it's better in the long run to just relax in the here and now! |
