Calla Lilies
Calla lilies are a popular choice among brides today. With the soft curving petal and the wide variety of colors available, calla lilies make an excellent, simple choice in wedding flowers. Many brides simply wrap a ribbon around a lush bunch of calla lilies and others incorporate the flowers into a more traditional bouquet. Calla lilies can also be used to make a large, draping bouquet by simply hanging them upside down and attaching the stems to the bottom of the bouquet holder.
Orchids
Orchids are making an appearance at many spring, summer and tropical weddings. They're gorgeous on their own or blended into a bouquet. Orchid bouquets are less traditional than other types of wedding flowers, because they are often patterned, exotic and brightly colored. That doesn't mean you can't incorporate orchids into your wedding though - try them for a unique look that makes a statement.
Tulips
These gorgeous little beauties are wonderful for spring weddings, along with daffodils and hyacinth. Since these bloom in spring, they practically ooze with the beauty and delicacy of the new season. They come in many colors, including both pale and bright shades and will go wonderfully with any wedding theme.
Daisies
Daisies can come in bright yellows, pinks or plain whites and go well as a filler in a lush bouquet or as a stand alone bouquet wrapped together with a ribbon or bow. If you're going for simplicity, use minimum greenery to let the daisies get the attention they deserve. For something more subtle, use more greenery and just a few smaller sized daisies. These flowers are excellent for bridesmaids bouquets and boutennieres as well, because they require little trimming and preperation.
Flowers To Skip
While you may have seen plenty of baby's breath incorporated into wedding bouquets in the past, it's actually being phased out as more modern brides forgo this tiny filler for things more noticeable and exotic. If you want a similar look to baby's breath, try incorporating small stems of rhinestones or pearls for something more understated.
Whatever you choose for your wedding, let your florist make some recommendations before you make your final decision. They're quite knowledgable about flowers and what is in season and will keep well. Take their suggestions into consideration when choosing the perfect wedding flowers for your ceremony and reception. Keep cost in mind as well - although you may love one particular type of flower, it may put your bouquet out of budget. Work with your florist and you'll find something that fits both your budget and your design ideas.
