Wedding Gift Registry

The traditional wedding gift registry of china and towels has taken on a new twist. Today, many couples are registering at stores for everything from camping gear to fine wines. The benefit of these unique wedding gift registries is that the bride and groom can get something they will really enjoy. A lot of newlyweds are already established with a home and everything they need to furnish and decorate it, so they don't want to register at a department store for housewares or linens. Any type of wedding gift registry is ideal for guests, who can simply go online and purchase the gift of their choice.

Honeymoon gift registries are becoming increasing popular in the wedding market. Couples choose a destination package from the registry company, and guests can visit the site to contribute money towards a relaxing vacation. Guests can choose to contribute towards any area of the trip they want: the hotel, a dinner at a local restaurant, even spa or tour packages. This gives many newlyweds the opportunity to enjoy a luxurious holiday that they otherwise couldn't afford.

Some wine cellars now offer registry services, so if you and your spouse are wine afecionados, consider this type of wedding gift registry. You can choose the wines you'd like to receive, or guests can choose their own favorites from an online list. Usually, couples who have a wine registry also register at a department store or other shop, as receiving 150 bottles of wine might be a bit much!

For the adventurous bride or groom, they can pick a sporting goods store or adventure travel company for their wedding gift registry. A sporting goods store that sells camping supplies, kayaks or hiking gear would be perfect for a couple who likes the outdoors. Companies that organize white water rafting or even hangliding or parachuting will suit adrenaline-loving newlyweds.

There is no rule that says you can't register at two stores. This is an ideal option if you would still like to receive traditional wedding gifts like china or appliances, but don't necessarily want a lot of home items. A wedding registry at a department store is also a great idea, as they have a wide range or products – you could ask for things like luggage for your honeymoon, home decor, and sporting goods.

It's considered bad taste to ask for cash – especially on the invitation! If you and your spouse-to-be would like cash gifts, it's fine to let guests know if they ask what you would like. Let a friend or family member tell guests who are curious about gift registries.

When you choose a store for your bridal registry, be sure to choose a variety of gifts, not just high-priced items. Some guests will only be able to afford smaller wedding gifts, and will be offended if they are met with a gift registry of expensive items that are way over their budget. By choosing a number of gifts, all of your guests will be pleased that they are buying you something that you really want, at a price that they can afford.
