Wedding Tips

Whether you need help with wedding planning or flower ideas, wedding tips are a great way to create a beautiful ceremony and reception on a budget. When planning a wedding, it's important that both the bride and groom make decisions about catering, decor and rentals together. Your wedding planning will go a lot more smoothly if you're organized!

The best way to eliminate wedding planning hassles is to be prepared. Book your ceremony and reception venues early, and talk to your wedding vendors as soon as possible. By leaving details until the last minute, you risk being left without a florist, or having the groomsmen racing to the tuxedo shop for a final fitting the day before the wedding. Don't set yourself up for failure, either – some brides buy a smaller-sized wedding dress in the hopes that it will motivate them to lose weight. If you blow your budget on an item you can't really afford, all you'll feel is stress rather than enjoyment.

If you're hiring a wedding planner, make sure that he or she respects your vision and is able to compromise. You need to find someone who fits with your personality and style. If you feel like your wedding consultant is trying to talk you into bigger budget items, or taking over too much of the planning, make sure your expectations are made clear.

It's essential to do your homework while wedding planning. If you compare different florists, caterers and DJ's before you hire professionals, you can save yourself a lot of money. You may pay hundreds of dollars more for the same service at another shop, so don't just order the first beautiful centerpiece you see, or decide on a catering company because the food sounds delicious. Also, you need to ask what's included with your reception venue or catering company rental. Some businesses will include cutlery, table linens and extra chairs with their services, while others will charge extra for everything from wine glasses to napkins.

Try not to worry about the small stuff. This includes fear of hurting the feelings of a childhood friend, who you haven't spoken to in ten years and don't intend to invite. A difficult parent or inlaw can increase stress and frustration, but don't get caught up in petty arguments or quarrels. A hungover best man, missing florist or spill on your wedding dress aren't ideal, but you will get through it and your wedding will be fine. Trust a family member with the task of dealing with last minute emergencies, such as calling a late vendor or running to the store to pick up stain remover.
