Winter Wedding Ideas While June is the month many couples choose for their wedding ceremony and reception, a winter wedding can be very elegant. There are great opportunities for dramatic, winter-themed decorations, unique wedding wear and delicious foods for colder weather. Here are some winter wedding ideas for a beautiful seasonal celebration: Winter wedding colors are often bold and bright: vibrant reds, sparkling gold or silver, and icy blues provide an ideal winter backdrop. White mini-lights complete the festive look and can be strung under tulle for tables, around potted poinsettias and around doorways. Candles surrounded by pine branches or cranberries are great for centerpieces, and winter wedding flowers can include red roses, white lilies and ornamental berries. The dress code at winter weddings is often black tie. The festivity of the season, as well as the complementary colors and chill in the air all contribute to people dressing up far more than they do for a summer wedding. A fairytale princess gown will fit the spirit of winter wedding, or a slim-fitting white silk gown could be paired with a glamorous faux fur shawl or cape. Some winter wedding jewelry ideas are a diamond tiara, ice blue pendant or white chandelier earrings. For the bridal party, think deep colors like burgundy wine or forest green. For the groom and groomsmen, black tuxedos will match perfectly with the bridal party dresses. The wedding photos from a winter wedding will look amazing, especially if you live in a cold climate with snow. Outdoor photos with a backdrop of snow will look gorgeous against the contrasting colors of the wedding party outfits and bold jewelry. The food at a winter wedding party can be more hearty than summer fare. Serve an appetizer of hot soup, followed by roasted meats, fish, vegetable dishes and plenty of bread. Consider adding some winter-themed beverages to the menu: spiced wine, rum and eggnog, and hot chocolate with whipped cream. Have a wedding cake with crystallized sugar for a look similar to snow, or offer some winter favorites like plum pudding or pumpkin pie as dessert options. Some winter brides and grooms choose to center their wedding theme around Christmas. You can decorate tables with snow globes and sprigs of holly, and give Christmas decorations to guests as favors. A red or green color theme evokes the spirit of Christmas, and incorporating Christmas carols into your wedding music will get guests dancing. One benefit to winter weddings is the cost. For couples on a tighter budget, a winter wedding can alleviate some of the financial stress of a summer wedding. The cost of booking venues is much less in the winter than during the height of the summer season. You can also save big on decorations as many reception halls are already decked out for Christmas or New Years parties. A winter wedding can be gorgeous, and is often much more memorable than a summer wedding for its unique style of decor and dress. If possible, leave your wedding reception in a horse-drawn carriage or classic car, complete with Christmas ribbons or bells as decorations. |
